At Alyth we value the journey of each of our children as they prepare to become Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We work closely with the family and the B’nei Mitzvah to prepare them to embrace their responsibilities for our Jewish traditions and the community.
Throughout this journey, our rabbis, cantor, tutors and teachers guide and support our students to ensure that their learning will be based upon their individual needs, and that they will be proud of becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
When your child is in School Year 5 you will be invited to an information meeting in October or November. During this meeting, details of the journey that you and your child will take toward Bar or Bat Mitzvah will be fully explained in addition to you being given a provisional Shabbat date for the ceremony – this provisional date is based upon your child’s Hebrew birthday.
The learning for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah begins 5 terms before the date of the ceremony and attendance is required at our Friday night Ruach programme and at the one to one lessons, which will start approximately 7 months beforehand.
